Colors and designs of the plaids used for kilts conveyed no specific meaning until the 18th Century. The wealthy showed off their means by the number of colors woven into the plaids. Originally kilts were pleated on the floor before being tied around the waist. Our kilts have the pleats sewn in to make it  easier for you to put on.
