Civil War Clothing
If you are looking for clothing and accessories that are appropriate for the Civil War Era, this is where you will find it. While the Civil War lasted from 1861 to 1865, we've expanded the era to include styles from about 1855 - 1865.
During this period Charles Worth opened his famous Paris fashion house and became a leading fashion designer for the next 30 years. Fragile gauze dresses decorated with flowers and ribbons were made for wealthy young women. Silk flowers, froths of tulle and pleated gauze trims emphasised the innocence of virginal girls whilst signalling their availability on the marriage market. Older, married women wore statelier fabrics like heavy satins, crisp silks and plush velvet. Typically, women dressed according to one's position in society and that also meant not wearing clothes more suited to a younger woman.
Many of our Victorian and Civil War clothes are custom made to fit you perfectly. They are appropriate for Civil War re-enactments, weddings, festivals, theatrical productions, and other speical events. The custom clothing line is made right here in Michigan.
